We have many groups who help lead the Parish on our faith journey. Many are listed below.
Pastoral Council
is a consultative body to the pastor. The purpose of the council is, among other things, to make recommendations for parish priorities, direction, and policies. The Pastoral Council and Fr. Dick Hayatsu set a five-year goal to grow an engaged church. On October 6 they, along with parish leadership representatives, will review the progress of this effort and determine next steps. Please see the Pastoral Council page.
Finance Council is a consultative body that provides the pastor with advice concerning the stewardship of the parish’s fiscal resources. The council engages in long-range financial planning with regard to funding operational and capital needs. Please see the Finance Council page.
Liturgy Commission overall purpose is to advise and support the pastor and the Pastoral Assistant for Liturgy on the spiritual and prayer life of the parish community.
The St. Francis of Assisi School Commission is to advise and support the pastor and principal in the operation of the parish school. Some of the responsibilities of the school commission is to evaluate the effectiveness of the school in performing its educational and formation missions; and recommending policies and conducting strategic planning for school operations.
Stewardship Commission is to assist the parish in promoting stewardship as a way of life among parishioners; to engage in strategic planning, policy development and recommendation in the area of stewardship in response to parish priorities and goals; and ensures the education of staff, consultative groups, and the Parish at large regarding stewardship.
Life, Justice and Peace Commission purpose is to assist the parish in the promotion and implementation of Catholic social teaching. This committee assists with development of the annual and capital budgets; serve as resource in identifying contractors for capital and maintenance projects; and determine maintenance priorities.
Safety Committee represents the parish and school in regards to keeping people safe as they use church facilities and grounds. The committee inspects all the facilities and grounds to identify potential safety issues and, if issues are so identified, to make recommendations in how to address them. The committee meets quarterly.
Sister Parish Committee has strengthened our relationship to our brothers and sisters in Chalantenanago, a province of El Salvador that started in 1996. The committee manages funds that are donated by parishioners for the needs of our brothers and sisters in El Salvador. Each year, we exchange a delegation to learn each other’s customs and needs. More importantly, we become one community in Christ. Please see the Sister Parish page.
