ABOUT OUR COUNCIL
Pope John XXIII Council has worked closely with the Parish of St. Francis of Assisi in Burien since 1964, providing funds for various projects and support to many parish functions and activities.
The Knights of Columbus is an international organization of Catholic men founded on the principles of "Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism."
At the present time there are over 1.9 million members, of which 17,000 are in Washington. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to any practical Catholic man over the age of 18 in union with the Holy See. The purpose as stated in October 1882 by our founder, Father Michael J. McGivney, is to help Catholic men remain steadfast in their faith through mutual encouragement, to promote closer ties of fraternity among them, and to set up an elementary system of insurance so that the widows and children of members in the group who might die would not find themselves in dire financial straits.
Meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month. They are not open to non-members unless it is an open meeting. Currently, there are 90 members active in the council.
