Proposal: Replace the Pixel smartphone with a PTZ camera.

We are looking to replace the Pixel smartphone with a PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) robotic camera. The smartphone is mounted on the tripod seen in the top photo. Before every live stream we have to mount the smartphone, turn it on and run the app. When it is running, to change a view or zoom, we have to manually go to the smartphone and adjust it while off the live feed. Adding a PTZ camera would give us four or five good wide and zoomed-in views that we could control from our live stream station like any other camera.

We would like to install the PTZ camera between the #6 and #7 posters as seen on the bottom photo.

We have two options to buy the PTZ camera.

  1. Bryan who live streams at St. Bernadette may have an older PTZ camera from his work. It is considered a 'legacy' camera by the company. It might be around $400.
  2. Brandon, who installed and maintains the Our Lady of Lourdes live stream system can buy new PTZ camera(s) at a good discount. It might be $1400.

There is power available from our current live stream set-up. We can use the Ethernet cable from the smartphone. We would need to buy and install a mount (like our current PTZ camera) and drill through the loft with a 1 inch hole for the two cables.

Our current three cameras are mounted the same way and there is a large hole in the loft wall for the cables
