The St. Francis of Assisi Pastoral Council Honors Rick & Laurie Fleehart

Rick & Laurie Fleehart
Laurie grew up in the Hillcrest area, attending St Francis until 6th grade, then the Highline Schools. After receiving her education degree from Western, she returned to the Highline District as a substitute teacher for 30 years. Rick was raised in Bellevue, and met Laurie at Western; they married at St. Francis in 1980, and moved here in 1981. Rick is a web developer for Boeing, and converted to Catholicism in 1991; Laurie grew up Catholic.

They have 2 children: Karen lives in Montana with her husband and three children; and Greg lives in the Greenlake area with his wife and are expecting their first child in July.

Laurie taught Sunday school for years and met many other parishioners through the babysitting co-op at 10am mass. Both Karen & Greg attended Sunday School, received the sacraments, and were active in the youth group, as were both Rick and Laurie. Yearly, the youth group attended a migrant farm week in Lynden to watch migrant children as part of the High School faith formation. Both Rick and Laurie worked on the Baptism team for many years, both continue serving as Eucharistic Ministers, and Laurie is actively involved with the High School Confirmation program. They made the trip to our sister parish in El Salvador in 2002, and have continued with their love and support for the past 11 years. They participate in the Family to Family program which helps the children in our Sister Parish continue their education. Rick helped design the parish website 10 years ago, and has been working on it, joyfully, ever since.

Laurie & Rick show us the values of engagement and feel deeply for our parish family.
They feel that the engagement prayer perfectly describes their feelings and commitment to our parish family.

From all of us, thank you for providing the true spirit of God with a loving and giving heart.

God Bless and Thank You
-- St Francis of Assisi Pastoral Council

Praise & Recognition

To nominate someone, click Read More >, below. One of the six key characteristics of an engaged member of a parish is that members have received recognition or praise from someone in their parish, within the past six months. As our Parish moves forward, it will be essential that we create the climate where parishioners freely and frequently can recognize and praise the efforts of other parishioners and staff members. One step in creating this climate is the creation of this forum. Read More
