Inside and outside of the Church

The St. Francis of Assisi Pastoral Council Honors Leo and Karen Ehreth

Leo and Karen Ehreth were married in St. Francis Church in March of 1975. They bought a home nearby where they raised two sons Dan & Paul. They feel strongly that St. Francis of Assisi Parish is their second home. They say "our parish is our family. When someone needs help we help, if something needs to be done, we do it."

Together they were involved in Marriage Encounter for 10 years, with 3 to 5 years as the presenting couple. They liked to help people strengthen their faith and to make good marriages better. They helped start RCIA at St. Francis and for the next 30 years they led around 450 people through the process of Christian Initiation. Karen says "RCIA continually increased my knowledge of the Catholic Faith and every year was a new experience. We were able to pass this on to our kids." They both served for 3 years on the Pastoral Council.

Karen helped out in the former nursery during the 10:00 a.m. Mass and is about to start her second year helping in Vacation Bible School. She has been a Eucharistic Minister since 1998 and she helps out with funeral receptions by making salads.

Leo has been a Eucharistic Minister for 6 years, he is a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sacramentors. Both are groups that raise funds for various charities and also help with maintenance around the parish campus. Leo says "everything that we see here in the present time is because of people I didn't even know, it's here because of their efforts in the past. I'm at a position to keep it going for others. It's our turn."

Karen and Leo we honor you for your love, commitment and selfless stewardship to all of us at St. Francis. We waht you to know how much we appreciate all you give each and every day and for providing the true spirit of God with a loving and giving heart.

God bless you and thank you

Praise & Recognition

To nominate someone, click Read More >, below. One of the six key characteristics of an engaged member of a parish is that members have received recognition or praise from someone in their parish, within the past six months. As our Parish moves forward, it will be essential that we create the climate where parishioners freely and frequently can recognize and praise the efforts of other parishioners and staff members. One step in creating this climate is the creation of this forum. Read More
