The St. Francis of Assisi Pastoral Council Honors John Eisen

John has had a long and varied career in the military and in the Church. He served as U.S. Army pharmacist in South Korea during the Viet Nam War. He was assigned to Tank Battalion of 7th Division up near the DMZ. After the military he received a degree in Sociology from Western Washington and served on the Campus Leadership Team there.  He served as a paralegal in Eastern Washington in VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) He join Channel to serve as youth minister. He then served as Faith Formation Director, Channel staff member, and Pastoral Assistant for Administration. He received his Master’s in Divinity from Seattle University in 1996. He has been involved in the SEEL community for 9 years (This is a Jesuit spirituality program that offers the St. Ignatius Spiritual exercises for religious and lay people) With SEEL, he served as spiritual director for three years. He has worked in detention ministry for the Archdiocese that served victims of violent crime.

He has been married to Pam since 1975. He came to St. Francis of Assisi in 2001 as a Pastoral Associate for Administration. He supervised staff and did all of the administration work in the parish. He works tirelessly in the parish and is often seen leaving his office late at night. His creative energies come out of him as an artist and playwright. One of his plays is on YouTube – “Dad’s Wish Gone Awry”. He has run half marathons and 10 K races. He serves on the Archdiocesan Stewardship Commission and is presently the chair for the Centering Prayer Ministry that is supported by Archbishop Sartain. He is working on becoming certified as a Centering Prayer Presenter by Contemplative Outreach. He has headed up the engaged Church ministry here at the parish. He heads up the Finance Council, the Stewardship Commission, Engagement Leadership Team, and the Safety and Facilities committees. He keeps track of the finances of the parish. He works with parents of the school children in keeping track of “in-parish tuition”.

John is totally dedicated to life in the Church. He gives himself totally and completely to make the Church happen for everyone. John, thank you for your dedication to St. Francis of Assisi parish and for all you do for the Church at large.
