The St. Francis of Assisi Pastoral Council Honors Donna Freelund

Donna Freelund married George Freelund in 1981, blending their two families into one of 8 children. In 1982 they moved into the home Donna still lives in. George was a Korean war vet and built a Korean War Memorial in their backyard garden. He was a boat builder and a very skilled craftsman, creating many items that blend with the decor of their home.
Donna worked in the payroll department of a construction company but she mostly likes being a homemaker & being with family. She loves tending her garden which is a very big part of her life. Her garden has been featured in garden shows & magazines. She loves going to daily Mass & being a grandma to her 14 grandchildren.

Donna has been very busy helping in several ministries at St. Francis as well, including: funeral reception coordinator along with preparing food as necessary, ironing altar linens, counting money, helping with yard work, caregiver for 2 ladies for a number of years, sacristan, prepared meals for the priests before they had a regular cook, preparing food for the deanery luncheons, helping furnish the priest's residence, and she is a eucharistic minister. She helped make & deliver sandwiches for Lazerus Center & St.Martin de Porres. Donna is also a member of the 50+ group.

Donna's favorite ministry is funeral receptions. She likes it especially because of the people she works with. It gives her an opportunity to help people in need, making sure they are eating & staying hydrated. Donna says "we are blessed with certain talents and I better use them, we are the ones that get blessed when serving.
Donna, we want you to know how much we appreciate all you give each and every day. Thank you.

Praise & Recognition

To nominate someone, click Read More >, below. One of the six key characteristics of an engaged member of a parish is that members have received recognition or praise from someone in their parish, within the past six months. As our Parish moves forward, it will be essential that we create the climate where parishioners freely and frequently can recognize and praise the efforts of other parishioners and staff members. One step in creating this climate is the creation of this forum. Read More
