Inside and outside of the Church

Thank you Melanie Bat

St. Francis of Assisi would like to honor Melanie Batt for her commitment to her faith and to the Parish.

Mel BattFrom a young age Melanie attended Mass with her mother on the weekends.  Her mom was very involved in their church.  Melanie says being around the adults in her younger years influenced her life.  Melanie attended Bellevue High School where she continued to grow in her faith attending CCD.  Since joining St. Francis in 1973, Melanie has been a member of the Engaged Church Committee, a member of Pastoral Council, coordinated the 1996 Parish photo directory, is a member of the Liturgy Committee and currently organizes the Eucharist Ministers.

While Melanie has been committed to her Parish life, she also has passion for the arts.  Melanie currently plays violin for the NW Symphony Orchestra and Lake Washington Symphony.  She has also been awarded Grand Champion in the Paper Crafts Division at the Washington State Fair in Puyallup for building a paper model of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.  She has volunteered since 1981 for the Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society at the Bagley Wright Theatre in Seattle Center, building costumes.  She now works in the front house. She is also a member of The Loose Cannon, which is recognition for people who have been involved in the production of every single Gilbert and Sullivan operetta. Melanie also enjoys traveling, either on her own or with a group of kids.

She has spent the past 44 years teaching French and World History at Kennedy Catholic High School. Melanie says the kids keep her young.  When asked how she measures success, her response was the gratitude from former students.

Melanie finds strength and direction every day knowing that deep down inside something is guiding her to do what is right.  She says God always takes care of it.  If you listen, you will hear the right thing to do.

Melanie Batt we honor you for your love, commitment and selfless giving to all of us at St Francis. We want you to know how much we appreciate all you give each and every day. Thank you for providing the true spirit of God with a loving and giving heart.  God Bless you.

Praise & Recognition

To nominate someone, click Read More >, below. One of the six key characteristics of an engaged member of a parish is that members have received recognition or praise from someone in their parish, within the past six months. As our Parish moves forward, it will be essential that we create the climate where parishioners freely and frequently can recognize and praise the efforts of other parishioners and staff members. One step in creating this climate is the creation of this forum. Read More
