Inside and outside of the Church

St. Francis of Assisi Pastoral Council Honors Patrick Herold

With a long Irish lineage dating back to the early 1800s, Pat has his Catholic roots squarely planted in the Northwest. A family ancestor was a Jesuit priest who founded St. Aloysius church in Buckley, Washington. He has always pointed to that heritage of faith to his four children to encourage them in their own faith journey.

Pat HaroldPat managed a music store here in Burien, then worked for many years at Seattle Filmworks. He is now color manager at Chromatics in Ballard.

Pat has always been drawn to music and began to play the saxophone at age five, and over the years taught himself to play the guitar. He shares his love for music as a ministry and as a way to give back to the whole Church community. Pat played with the Life Teen music ministry for years at the Sunday 5 PM masses, and continues to play with the Sunday morning music group.

He has been inspired to use his talents to get involved with his children’s growing faith and experience of the Church in their lives. Pat has been a Sunday schoolteacher for 10 years and says that the best heartfelt honor he received was the thank you notes from the Sunday school children he taught. Getting involved with his children and what they are doing felt like the right thing to do.  As his children grew he continued to be involved by joining the faith and confirmation team for the past five years.

Pat shares his strengths of Intellect and Gathering to be a resource to others.  This has led him to join the Sacramentors, where he enjoys the camaraderie with fellow Catholic gentlemen who engage in faith sharing, bible study, and community service.

With all that Pat has done and will do, how does he stay motivated and energized? Serve rather than being served, teach so others can see and learn. And live with the motto "Give to the church; the church will give back to you".

Pat we honor you for your love, commitment and selfless giving to all of us at St. Francis. We want you to know how much we appreciate all you give each and every day. Thank you for providing the true spirit of god with a loving and giving heart.

Praise & Recognition

To nominate someone, click Read More >, below. One of the six key characteristics of an engaged member of a parish is that members have received recognition or praise from someone in their parish, within the past six months. As our Parish moves forward, it will be essential that we create the climate where parishioners freely and frequently can recognize and praise the efforts of other parishioners and staff members. One step in creating this climate is the creation of this forum. Read More
