Pastoral Council Honors Jeff Simpson

St. Francis of Assisi Parish has had the pleasure of Jeff Simpson’s musical presence for 25+ years. He’s a local, having atended Mount Rainier High School and Western Washington University in Bellingham, studying music and business. Jeff has always acted on his gift of music, both vocally and instrumentally, startng with the clarinet, tenor sax, and then guitar. He became involved in high school, then to a greater degree in college, and has contnued to sing and play his whole adult life. In addition to his participaton in parish music, Jeff is part of a five-piece band named Cornerstone. You can hear his group play in Burien monthly at 909 Coffee & Wine from 7:00—10:00pm, the second Saturday of each month.

When asked how faith plays a part in his life, Jeff acknowledged that being a lifelong Catholic has been his cornerstone. He experiences great joy in music and seeing its powerful impact on others is a blessing. Jeff feels it’s important to figure out what calls you—what gives you joy. Then move forward with that boldly, allowing it to take you beyond your comfort zone. Jeff and his wife have been married 38 years. They have a son, Mathew, who lives in Texas. Jeff had the honor of officiating at his son’s wedding in the Grand Canyon.

We recognize you today, Jeff, for the blessing you are in our parish. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us, for we know that when we lift our hearts and voices in song, we pray twice!

As our Parish moves forward, it will be essential that we create the climate where parishioners freely and frequently can recognize and praise the efforts of other parishioners and staff members. One step in creating this climate is the creation of this forum. Read More
