Inside and outside of the church

Congratulations to two former Acolytes!

Congratulations to two of our former Acolytes! Jessie Dirks and Nikki Macias
received their Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting. Nikki’s project was a booklet that helps volunteers identify and care for the native plants in the Normandy Park Cove wetlands. She worked with the Parkside Garden Club and the Stewards of the Cove on this project. She did beautiful drawings of the native plants which are included in the booklet. Jessie made a video to help spread awareness of the issues related to disabilities and peer attitudes toward students with disabilities. She interviewed many people and children with disabilities as well as those who work with them about their feelings on a variety of subjects. After making the video she made a presentation at her high school. NOW PRESENTING: WE SEE! The video is uploaded to Youtube! Feel free to share and spread the word

Jessie and Nikki have been dedicated Altar Servers, Acolytes, and Eucharistic Ministers for many years. But even greater than their accomplishments and service is the heart of Christ which lives in both of these women. I have enjoyed talking with them through the years and watching them grow and mature in their faith lives. Both of them are going off to Universities this Fall, Jessie to Seattle U and Nikki to the University of Washington. I sense that each of them will make a loving contribution to any community of which they
are a part.

As our Parish moves forward, it will be essential that we create the climate where parishioners freely and frequently can recognize and praise the efforts of other parishioners and staff members. One step in creating this climate is the creation of this forum. Read More
