Seventh Grade curriculum is based largely on developing students’ concepts of their place in the world - how they impact and are impacted by the world around them.  The year begins with a junior high retreat that inspires the student to focus on their role as leaders in our school. They come to understand more about how a mature Christian lives out his or her faith. Students continue to develop their independence and their time management skills through a variety of project-based and long-term assignments in various subject areas.  They learn not just by lecture and discussion, but through hands-on activities and cooperative learning projects.  Emphasis is placed on using and analyzing primary source material in addition to traditional textbooks. Students participate in literature circles, allowing them to experience various themes and genres and to discuss ideas with other students throughout the junior high, not just those in their homeroom.  The students sharpen their effective writing skills, giving them tools to help them be successful throughout their lives.  In math, algebra is introduced, as well as elements of geometry.
