What is the Gift-A-Book Program?
The Gift-A-Book Program is an opportunity to donate a book to the St. Francis of Assisi school or classroom libraries in honor of someone’s birthday or a special event. This program was started in remembrance of Brittany Marie Boatright, a student at Aviation High School, whose vision and love of reading has inspired our children get excited about reading. Any student, family member, or faculty member can select a book from the wish list collection of new books waiting to be added to our libraries. A special bookplate will be placed inside the front cover honoring the gift. The gifted book will be announced during morning prayer. The donating student will be the first person to check out the book.
Below are lists of suggested reading for each grade. Each list also contains the number of books requested by teachers for their libraries. You might want to select a book from this list if you wish to participate in the Gift-A-Book Program.
Although your Gift-A-Book may be purchased anywhere, we have joined in partnership with Barnes & Noble at Westwood Village. They are offering St. Francis Gift-A-Book purchasers a 20% discount taken at the register on all books on the library wish list. Barnes & Noble at Westwood Village supports our summer reading program, is bringing in guests for our school assemblies, and helps us in our fundraising book fair. Don’t forget that Scrip can be used for your birthday book purchases.
