ADMINISTRATION:

Stewardship Commission: meets on June 25 at 7:00pm in the Conference Room. The commission will continue their plans for revamping a welcoming ministry of new members and review  September-October plans for a ministry faire and the annual renewal Stewardship of Treasure.

The Finance Council and Facilities Committee do not meet in July and August. The Finance Council will have its annual August summer party.

Growing an Engaged Church News:

20 parish leaders met last Tuesday. They participated in the first of many listening sessions. The theme was: “In my parish, my spiritual needs are met.” They provided helpful feedback to the engagement team for their planning for parish-wide listening sessions scheduled for the fall.

The New Evangelization? Recently, the Archdiocesan Office of Stewardship announced that growing an engaged church is the new evangelization. Why is this important? It means engagement is now something all parishes should be doing- it’s not a passing fad. And two, it affirms empirical data that shows it helps us grow spiritually. Isn’t that what all churches should be doing?

One way we can emotionally connect with one another by “doing what we do best” (Living Your Strengths). For more details about our logo and strengths, check out engagement on our web page, here.

Praise and Recognition: Leadership groups and parishioners are urged to acknowledge the Stewards of time and talents in our community. The purpose is to feed the soul, not the ego. Another way to look at it: Do you feel the love from the faith community? Does your participation in the life of this parish matter to others? If we can say yes, then people more likely will feel they belong. The stronger they feel they belong, greater is their commitment in living their faith in everyday life.

Engagement means I feel emotionally connected to people at St. Francis of Assisi. Engagement Belief #1 “I feel valuable to St Francis because I know what is expected of me and I know what I can expect of the parish.” Please see the bulletin insert for a description of these expectations.

Safe Environment Program:
This is a reminder that parish volunteers must take the renewal online class every year. Questions? Email me,

.

Safe Environment Program Requirement: We are grateful to those volunteers who are taking the time to meet SEP archdiocesan requirements. If you have received notice about these requirements, please take care of them as soon as possible. For those who still need to take the renewal class, the web link is http://seattle.setanet.org/obligations.php. The web link for SEP policies and Church Personnel Sign-Off form is here. Thank you!

Bulletin Policy: To save money and increase their effectiveness, the new parish bulletin policy limits inserts to three, or no more than, four. Inserts are limited to archdiocesan efforts like the Appeal and in-parish activities. Depending on availability of space, all out-ofparish events are listed in the bulletin.

Online Giving – more of our parishioners are taking advantage of this option. If you are interested, just go here. You just need your parish (envelope) ID number to set up an account that you manage.

Quarterly Financial Reports we like to send out quarterly reports to our parishioners to make sure our records are accurate. The Post Office said that the format we had been using for years did not meet bulk mailing requirements. We made changes to it to qualify, yet the report provides less information than before. The other option is to send them by First Class Mail or email them.

Web Tech Team has been working hard. They have added two new web pages: The Engaged Church and Praise and Recognition. Check them out, here and here.

The AED device is now located in the stairwell between the church and Unity Place. It is located near the top of the stairwell leading into the church. Thanks to the two donors who made this possible. We have a potentially life-saving device at our disposal in case of an emergency.

Hospitality Committee Based on engagement principles, provides opportunities for new members to connect with our parish. If you would like to be part of this ministry, please contact John, 206.242.4575X15.

ST. FRANCIS PARISH OFFICE PHONE SYSTEM- If you wish to leave a message when we are not open, please press the star key (*) and the number 8 and then the extension. For example, to reach the receptionist, you would press *810. Remember, the office is closed from 12:00-12:30 for lunch. Ext. numbers are on inside of bulletin cover.
