Celebrating First Holy Communion!
First Holy Communion dates for this year are May 6th and May 13th at the 5:00 p.m. Masses.
Preparation for children baptized in the Catholic church may begin once the child has completed one year of faith formation and is at least 7 years old. Children attending St. Francis school prepare for First Holy Communion through their second grade religion classes. For all other children, a separate class is held for parent and child on Sundays.
If your child was baptized in another Christian tradition, a Profession of Faith to the Catholic Church is required prior to receiving First Holy Communion. Contact Elizabeth at 242-4575, ext 25 for information.
If you would like your child to receive First Eucharist with their 2nd Grade class and they have NOT received the Sacrament of Baptism, please follow these steps in preparation for First Eucharist:
- If the child is not yet 7 years old or recently turned 7, they must receive the Sacrament of Baptism before their eighth birthday. One parent must be Catholic. Contact Elizabeth 242-4575, ext 25 for information.
- If the individual is 7 or older and seeking baptism they may go through the children's version of RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) process which begins each Fall. They will receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. Contact Cheryl Brooten (206) 242-4575 ext 24 or at email@example.com for additional information.
